ABOUT

Since the 1980s, Alfred Steffen has developed a photographic body of work situated between portraiture, documentary practice and artistic observation. His photographs move between iconic personalities, urban culture, landscape and quiet moments of everyday life.

His work is structured into six groups:

People — Portraits from culture, music, fashion and society.
Zeitgeist — Series exploring urban culture, collective experience and social movements.
Environment — Photographic observations of spaces, architecture and landscape.
Nature — Studies of nature, animals and organic forms.
Situations — Fleeting encounters, scenes and unposed moments.
Patterns — Structures, repetition and visual order within everyday life.

Educated in Berlin and shaped by his early years working for TEMPO magazine, he developed a visual language defined by precision, presence and intimacy. His photographs have appeared in publications including Vogue, Stern and Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin.

Today, selected works are released for the first time as limited Fine Art editions — hand-signed, numbered and produced to museum standards in Germany.
